Phycom revolutionises the food industry with microalgae

Phycom revolutionises the food industry with microalgae – In the heart of the Netherlands, in Veenendaal, Phycom is bringing about a revolution in the food industry. The company has dedicated itself to the cultivation of microalgae for the consumption of both animals and humans. After four years of intensive work and investment, Phycom has built two state-of-the-art production plants, demonstrating the technology and scalability of microalgae production. This exploit has attracted the attention of investors, opening the door to new prospects for growth and development.

A vision for a sustainable future

The recent funding round has catapulted Phycom into a new phase of expansion and consolidation. The goal is clear: to produce microalgae products with ‘consistent, high quality on an industrial scale’. This ambitious goal was officially announced by the company itself, highlighting Phycom’s determination to redefine standards in the food industry.

A successful partnership for a sustainable revolution

Among Phycom’s enthusiastic supporters is Corbion, a leading Dutch food and biochemical company. Ruud Peerbooms, President of Corbion, commented: ‘The capabilities demonstrated by Phycom offer great potential and we believe that the combination of complementary strengths through this collaborative partnership will help us continue to redefine what is possible through algae-based technologies.

Microalgae: key to the food of the future

Investors recognised the crucial importance of microalgae in the food industry of tomorrow. Boudewijn Poelmann, founder of Phase2.earth, emphasised: ‘Microalgae will be a key ingredient in the food of the future and will contribute to a more sustainable world. This comment reflects the growing awareness of the urgency of a transition to more sustainable food practices.

Investing for a greener world

Invest-NL, one of Phycom’s investors, is at the forefront of promoting innovative alternative protein technologies. Daan Meijer, investment associate at Invest-NL, emphasised: ‘Our goal is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable food system by investing in innovative alternative protein technologies. The role of microalgae in this transition and Phycom’s unique technology and large-scale production make us exceptionally proud to add it to our investment portfolio.”

A breakthrough towards a sustainable food future

Phycom is breaking new ground in the food industry, demonstrating that microalgae are a promising solution for a more sustainable future. With the backing of leading investors, the company is on the right track to transform food production and contribute to a greener, more balanced world. With state-of-the-art production facilities and an ambitious vision, Phycom is preparing to lead the change towards a sustainable and responsible food future.
